The Fear Factor

I dreamed I had a fear last night.

It was cold,

It was dark

It slithered through my mind

Left shivers behind

I sought to pull away from it

Yet it seemed like running in place

I was caught in its web

Twisted, tangled,

Being strangled.

Don’t fight it, a voice whispered

But I could not stop

I did not want to look at it

Trying to focus

It’s just hocus pocus

How long has it been here?

From the beginning of time?

Is it an integral part of me?

It’s simply natural, you see.

Stop fighting, you’ll be free.

Ooo! Clapping loudly! “Is it an integral part of me? It’s simply natural, you see. Stop fighting, you’ll be free.” Loved this! Had a very wise friend once who knew I was having issues with a recurring nightmare where I was being chased but didn’t know by who or what. She told me the next time it happened to stop running and turn around and look. It was exactly that. It was ME all along… I really identify with this. Good job, Fim!

Thank you!!! Interesting idea about next time you dream, to stop running and turn around. That mean you can lucid dream! That’s so cool!

I wrote three different things. This one was the least like what I’ve done here before, so it fit the twist.

Is this the last week of Writing 101? That’s going to feel strange.

I hate nightmares especially the ones that reoccur like old friends. (maybe friends is the wrong term.) Wonderful poem thank you for sharing. 🙂

Yes. Very nice my buddy. The poetry is great but the wisdom is what made me smile the most. “Snarl like a cheetah”
