So, I was hanging out over an my friend Calen’s blog. It’s a favorite place to go of mine. She did this prompt about going to visit a blog and picking out the 4th and 14th word in the day’s post, and so I did that… But I went random, and just found a blog and looked at the 4th and 14th word. So my drop in words for the sentence ______ is the new ______ is ARE HOUSE.
Looking at the Are House by itself, I’m sure I don’t even have to tell most of you where my mind went. And if you guessed Crosby, Stills, Nash, am Young, you’d be right.
Yes, ARE isn’t OUR, but if you hear how it’s pronounced, it’s OUR.
I’m reading a book right now entitled, “Strangeville.” It’s a strange story, which got me thinking, what song that I’ve heard would I consider ‘strange?’
One that comes to mind is, “String of Pearls” by Soul Asylum. It’s all in the story, and the words, and strange isn’t always something you don’t care for, but often is compelling, and keeps you coming back. Take a listen to my choice:
So my beautiful Monday Music Medicine Show friends, what is a song you’ve heard that you consider strange, and what about it makes it strange. Share it there (your own blog with a ping back), or share it here. I know I’d love to hear it.
BYOM and remember: It Don’t Mean A Thing If You Don’t Send That PING!
Music is the Medicine in my Soul and I hope yours is as healing and nurturing as mine!
Yesterday, our beloved poet from Plato’s Groove, put forth a very thought provoking piece – as he always does. And I love it when soon afterward (this morning) I heard a song which reminded of that telling of his.
It’s a song by Passenger:
The words to the song:
“Well sing, sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark
We wish our weekdays away
Spend our weekends in bed
We drink ourselves stupid
And work ourselves dead
And all just because
That’s what mum and dad
Said we should do.
But we should run through the forests,
We should swim in the streams
We should laugh, we should cry
We should love, we should dream
We should stare at the stars
And not just at screens
You should hear what I’m saying
And know what it means to sing
sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark
Well we wish we were happier, thinner and fitter,
We wish we weren’t losers and quitters
We want something more not just nasty and bitter
We want something real not just hashtags and twitter
It’s the meaning of life
And it’s streamed live on youtube
But I bet Gangnam style would still get more views
And we’re scared of drowning, and flying and shooters
But we’re all slowly dying in front of computers
So sing, sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark
Can you feel, feel like you still have a choice?
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark
PhoTrablogger has a really fun event on Monday; exploring the mundane in pictures. Having recently gotten a new camera, and still looking for the time to get out there and get in some clicks, I tried something which is less a mundane idea, but did give me a rather nice shot of a very mundane part of our house.
I’ve gotten pretty good at living in the now. I think it is because I’m the poster child for disaster thinking which leads me into the dangerous waters of phobia universe. I never liked living there, and it was very crippling at times. But when you let go of yesterday, it also leaves behind some things that I would put in my ‘precious moments’ jar. And then it becomes more difficult to say good-bye to yesterday. This brings me to my song for today by Boyz ll Men:
That, of course, begs the question, going out to all my friends out there, what song personifies that place where you need to send your yesterdays packing, but find it’s not as easy as it seems to not throw out the baby with the bathwater.
