Scare Away The Dark

Yesterday, our beloved poet from Plato’s Groove, put forth a very thought provoking piece – as he always does. And I love it when soon afterward (this morning) I heard a song which reminded of that telling of his.

It’s a song by Passenger:

The words to the song:

“Well sing, sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark

We wish our weekdays away
Spend our weekends in bed
We drink ourselves stupid
And work ourselves dead
And all just because
That’s what mum and dad
Said we should do.

But we should run through the forests,
We should swim in the streams
We should laugh, we should cry
We should love, we should dream
We should stare at the stars
And not just at screens

You should hear what I’m saying
And know what it means to sing
sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark

Well we wish we were happier, thinner and fitter,
We wish we weren’t losers and quitters
We want something more not just nasty and bitter
We want something real not just hashtags and twitter

It’s the meaning of life
And it’s streamed live on youtube
But I bet Gangnam style would still get more views
And we’re scared of drowning, and flying and shooters
But we’re all slowly dying in front of computers

So sing, sing at the top of your voice
And love without fear in your heart
Feel, feel like you still have a choice
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark

Can you feel, feel like you still have a choice?
If we all light up, we can scare away the dark

And oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh”

What a totally awesome video! Let’s do that!! It does kind of go hand in hand with Plato’s poem. Well done, super music sleuth!

Thank you! And YAY! It just happened to come up in my playlist this morning while I was making breakfast. While I was listening to it, I thought, oh, wow, that could go hand in hand, in some way, with Plato’s poem. πŸ™‚

Hi Mary! It is quite different, isn’t it? I can’t remember how I came across this song, but it’s been in my playlist for a while. I just heard it this morning, and after reading Plato’s poem last night, it seemed to be perfect. πŸ™‚ Thank you and you’re very welcome πŸ™‚

First, I guess I should skedadle (how do you spell that?) over to Platosgroove. I haven’t been there in ages. And second, the words are definitely hitting home. But nobody’s home these days in most places. Third, I couldn’t watch the video because I’m presently sipping my 3 o’clock frapp in SB’s and I didn’t think it wise to play a song in public. It is a very poignant warning, though. But like I say…nobody’s (maybe a few) listening. Even I understand, but here I am at my own screen. Life is what life is, I guess????
