Monster Mash

I took a detour the other day. I was not feeling creative, and thought I’d fall back on one of my go-to activities – to pass the time. I’m a gamer. Not of the WoW kind, but more along the lines of puzzles, hidden object games, and such. I’ve been a member to at least two gaming communities dedicated to both online gaming, and downloads, own-it games.

A couple of months ago, I opened the browser of one of my sites, and saw a ‘for free’ offer, and grabbed it. It was a curious little game, and I went in an played around, thought it was interesting, but was too involved in my newest passion at the time to really get to know how it worked.

For six months, I’ve been quite full-on busy right here. The odd thing is that I became so involved in visiting and commenting that I had not actually done serious blogging of my own, except for my Monday Music Medicine Show. When did all the get-up-and-go writing begin to move to a back burner? It’s not like I didn’t have things already on the back burner for after my months of consistent challenges. Yet, I was finding that I’d been bitten by the procrastination (which is going around to an extent) bug.

What to do?  What I always do when I find myself at a loss. Play. Game.

And so I did. I’d been recovering from some uncomfortable physical annoyances, and I just took the easy way out. Yes I did.

Three days ago, I opened my game browser and saw that little free game just sitting there, waiting for me. And just like in January, I clicked that button! It took some time for me to even remember how it all worked. In fact, I didn’t really know much about it until three days ago. I began giving my time – as instructed – once a day, and discovered something fascinating! Color me amazed when I realized that right at my fingertips was a wonderfully creative musical experience. Now how could I pass that up?

So I’d like to share with you, a bit of this world. Think of it as a trailer. But I also feel it may just have given me a nice kick start back into bringing my own game to life. Plus I got an opportunity to dabble in my movie making program. I spent today playing with Movie Maker and I put together this little presentation. It’s just the tip of an amazing iceberg, and I hope you’ll enjoy and appreciate what fun it brought me.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you “My Singing Monsters.”

Premio Dardos Award

PremioDardos Award

Recognition by our fellow bloggers is such an honor. And it is my  pleasure to have someone whose own blog personifies the value of this award, and who saw these in my own way of being.

What is the Premio Dardos Award?

Premio Dardos means “Prize Darts” in Spanish. It is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing.

Julia who has presented me with this award is wonderfully multifaceted, as can be seen in her own blog, My Red Page. Thank you, for the richness you’ve brought into my world through yours.

There are other aspects to the presentation of this award, which I hope I will be able to fulfill, as time permits.

The Monday Music Medicine Show!

The Monday Music Medicine Show LOGO

Welcome to Monday Music Medicine Show!

Sometimes just a word brings you to a song; a memory from long ago, and you sit and feel good in that moment. I got the idea for this particular Music Medicine Show from reading a friend’s blog.

So my hope is that you, who like taking a ride on the Monday Music Medicine Show merry-go-round, will consider this. Over the last day, or week, does a particular word from a blog title, or within the content, summon up a favorite song?

For me, the word came from The Lady Calensariel, at Imprumptu Promptlings , posted this Saturday past, and when I read the title, I was instantly reminded of a song I’ve loved over the years, and which carries a message I think is very important.

Please be sure to include in your own post, the blog URL and blogger’s name so that we all can journey over and enjoy the magic.

BYOM and  remember: It Don’t Mean A Thing If You Don’t Send That PING!

Music is the Medicine in my Soul and I hope yours is as healing and nurturing as mine!

The Lap of Luxury

Let’s say you’re not up to snuff – we’re not talking about films, so don’t go there – and you are the person in charge of keeping your place clean and tidy. But you know how it is when you don’t feel good. Last thing you want to do, or even think about, is how clean are my floors? Who’s going to keep the dust bunnies from becoming the killer rabbits from hell? Well, my friends, have I got a housekeeper’s little helper for you.

Back some years ago, Mr. Quantum and I fell in love with a show called Eureka, about this high tech town of geniuses, where there was this automated house. Everything was done BY the house. How cool would that be? So somewhere between then and a year or two ago we came across an automated vacuum cleaner, from iRobot (without Will Smith, sadly) called Roomba. This little gadget was AMAZING!

We didn’t need to be sold on it. This was the future we envisioned way back in the 20th Century. How could we pass it up. We couldn’t. We didn’t. We bought our own, and entered the world of tomorrow. We named her Sarah, after the house in the Eureka TV series. What? you don’t name your appliances?

Anyway, it’s been over a year, now since we moved in here, and we never took her out of the box after we moved, so I’ve been lugging around, and pushing around the Dyson vacuum we have. But I just didn’t feel like doing that. Yesterday we took her out and I cleaned her (yes, she does require maintenance, but it’s quick and easy, like emptying one of the canisters that comes with any vacuum. We had to let her charge, as she’d been off her dock for over a year. But today, she was ready, and rearing to go and clean this house.

There’s more than just getting a clean house out of using an iRobot Roomba. There’s pure entertainment! And she fits under places like couches, and beds, and dressers and all those spaces you don’t even think about. It’s a hoot, watching her going about her business.

This is why I can sit here and write this instead of vacuuming.

Here’s a preview of an Roomba in action:

Roomba: Don’t move home without it.

Abducted By Aliens

On July 1st, while out minding my own business… okay, not true. I was minding my business, but had no idea I was but a step away from being invaded… oh wait, that sounds dirty. While true, it’s not like it sounds.

But I was abducted by aliens. All those little germs that can wreak havoc on the body, got a foot hold, and now, let’s just say, I’m on the spaceship.

Yes, I’ve been watching ID4 (Independence Day, for those who were not around when the movie FIRST came out, and didn’t see the poster with the BIG impressive ID4 on it), which makes the inner terrestrial invasion all the more apt as an explanation for my MIA status.

I’m still incarcerated by the Incubators, and not really sure how long this will keep me out of action.

But I just wanted to let you, my wonderful readers, that I haven’t jumped ship, but been taken over and am fighting the good fight – if I can just figure out if the antibiotics are what made me so sick night before last.

I hope to be able to have my reception returned to me soon.
