Pick The World: Hungry

When I think if Hungry, my mind goes immediately to The Hungarian Rhapsodies by Franz Liszt. He was a 19th Century Hungarian composer, (October 22, 1811 – July 31, 1886) who has written 1300 pieces; 400 origianl pieces and 900 arrangements of other composers’ pieces.

My favorite, and his most well known are his Hungarian Rhapsodies. My favorite is Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2:

He began learning to play piano at the age of seven, and composed his first music at the age of eight. He began appearing in concerts at age nine. When he died, from pneumonia at the age of 74, he was viewed by his contemporaries as the greatest virtuoso of his time (although Liszt stated that Charles-Valentin Alkan undoubtedly had a technical facility superior to his own), and in the 1840s he was considered by some to be perhaps the greatest pianist of all time.

I hope you enjoy this part of your Hungarian Journey, through the Pick The World weekly event, brought to us by LaChouett.
