There are some challenges given to us by The Sandbox Writing Challenge, hosted at Impromptu Promptlings, by Lady Calen, which I don’t even have to think about. This was one of them.
The question this week:
What door have you closed in your life, and why?
Will you ever open it again?
This is not a hard question. In fact, there is really only one door which I have closed, and that was 44 years ago. In 1972, I closed the door on substance abuse. The why of it should be obvious. But on the chance there is someone out there who would not know why I’d close that door, I’ll spell it out for you. It was a dangerous way of living my life. It was hurting me, and it was hurting those I love. I live with the consequences of it and have begun treatment for one of those consequences, which was life threatening – as much so as the abuse itself was.
As to whether I would open it again, I sincerely hope not. I’ll just say I don’t want to become that stupid again.

I think I know why it’s not posting correctly. When I copy the URL and put it in my notepad, there’s an extra space between the two line, so when I copy to paste it in for pingback it picks up the space, but only the first line of the link gets posted. I think I fixed this one. Thanks for letting me know.

Btw, I just figured out why your pingbacks don’t show up on IP. Apparently you need to copy the entire address of the post including the challenge part or it doesn’t put it on there. I copied the link you posted and looked at it. It’s:
https://promptlings.wordpress.com/2016/01/19/the-sandbox-writing-
But that’s not complete. What needs to be there is:

Just thought I’d let you know. How did last night go, btw? Did you sleep?

Thank you, Linda!
Is that emoticon the fist of solidarity? I can’t see it clearly. So I’m guessing here.

I feel that the blogosphere is creating a new level of openness and oneness among those with the courage to participate. You are a fine example of this effect at work Fim. It can only be a good thing.

I think you’re right about that. I’ve seen on so many blogs that openness and the courage to stand up and speak. Thank you for your encouraging words. What doesn’t take us down, makes us stronger.

Fimnora, I have lost one son to drugs and have another son who has struggled for 15 years. He is currently 6 month clean. I know what great resolution it takes every day to stay clean. May you always be strong and stay on your path.

Thank you, Bernadette, for your kind words.
My brother lost his own battle back in 1983. It will be 33 years February 7.
Losing him reminds me daily of the importance of fighting the good fight.
Thank you, also, for the follow!
