This week at Impromptu Promptlings, Lady Calen presents The Sandbox Writing Challenge 24 — Undone? This is a topic which is close to my heart. In fact, I sat here for so long, trying to figure out what I could say about this, that if I did not get on with it today, it too would remain undone.
What have you left undone?
I believe ‘Undone’ is my middle name. My parents got it wrong with the one they chose. I’m a starter – always beginning projects, but not often finishing.
The list might be hefty – shall I get a Glad bag?
There is even a song that goes with this:
That’s all she said.

I had to giggle despite myself when I saw that song. I KNEW somehow you’d work that particular one in! LOL I’m a great starter, too. Only thing I’ve ever really finished satisfactorily besides reading a book is the cross stitches I used to do. I’m proud of them. Won ribbons at both the State Fair and the County Fair for a couple I did. Anyway, I get you!!! {{{Fim}}} But you ARE going to finish this “course” in your life you’re on now! We will see to that!!! 😀

Oh, yes, I will finish all the prompts of The Sandbox Writing Challenge. 🙂
Wow, winning ribbons in the state and county fairs! How cool is that! Did they get bought?

No, they weren’t for sale. One of them I’d done for my mom and one for my sister. They were just entered into the contest.

That’s cool. 🙂 I only known one other person who won ribbons, at our county fair. My neighbor across the street. His vegetables always won ribbons.

Self evaluation is the most honest when you tend to own it.
You seem to be in that frame of mind.
Catchy tune.

Thank you. 🙂 Yes, these challenges help keep me on the track of evaluating all the days of my life.
Oh, yes, that tune came to me even before I started thinking about how to write this.

This is great. I so relate. I mostly get distracted, so I don’t finish stuff. Man, that song takes me back! Junior year in high school.

Oh, yes distraction! That’s the ticket. And while that is true, I think there is a certain amount of laziness going on here.
The minute I saw the word in the challenge, that song just popped right into my head.

Funny about the middle names – and side note – feel like I have not seen the brand “glad” trash bags for a long time!

Yes, I often wonder what the middle names are all about, but then Mr. Quantum goes by his middle name, so for him it worked out well. 🙂 I think I actually use Glad bags. lol Will have to go take a look see.

Well was actually thinking of that brand one day last summer when walking an overstuffed cheap brand to the curb! It did not break – but I was weary! And do you remember there commercials “don’t get mad – get Glad”- ha!

That’s right! I do remember those commercials! Yes, the ones I use now are Glad, but different than we ever had years ago. They have a weave in the ones I use. I’m just glad they have the built in ties. I never like those little twist ties. Though I suppose in all the colors they have, I could weave them together to make bracelets, or something like that. Twist-tie origami. 🙂

Well, it’s like I never left. I’m now back, and it’s just more spooky stuff. I don’t finish anything. Even dinners. And writing. I’ll get right up to the end. And stop. My middle name is: “Wasgonna.”

Yup! you’re back! And none too soon, because withdrawal was setting in. Glad to see you here! LOL @ “Wasgonna.” A good one… Undone and Wasgonna walk into a bar… beginning of a good joke. 😛 Always spooky stuff, don’t ya know. 😉

Back, and trying to catch up with comments. Haven’t even thought of writing. I’m bogged down in other stuff. Is the name of that bar they walk into called 42?

Oh, I know all about the catching up with comments. It keeps me busier than blogging. 🙂
42, you bet! Where they serve up a mean ‘answer to life, the universe and everything,’ drink. Next thing you know you’re flipping through “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”

You know if you need a friend, I’m always here. Of course, have you considered putting Duncan to work? He might be crabby about it, but in the end, I think he’ll come out of his shell. 😀

At my age, that works for me! I really DO forget. But there’s also, I don’t want to. And the best one is, if it doesn’t get done before 2pm, it’s part of tomorrow’s worry. 🙂

I am a craft person at heart. Us crafties collect ‘stuff ‘ – you never know when inspiration hits and you just might need it. Along with the crafting goes the ‘hey! that’s cool. I want to try that’ so you do. And along comes another. And another. And before you know it, you have a pile of ‘anothers’ = undones, neatly packed away in the cupboard for that day when you pull it out again to have another bash at it. A few years ago I had a massive clean out of my craft gear. And the next day I was lamenting throwing something out because I discovered that now I could have used it! the perpetual dilemma of a craftie. I am a bit more discerning these days. So – that’s my post to this….didn’t that must till now 🙂 Having said all that I must add that there have been many ‘dones’along the way too.

My problem would be, looking at the neatly packed ‘another’ pile, I would have to remember just want it was I planned on doing with them. I do that a lot. What was this for? I’d ask, while scratching my head.
But I SO get the realizing I could have used something I’d just thrown out! Oy!
I’ve realized, however, with the cooking gadgets my mom had in her closet, that I don’t even know what half of them are for. I kept them when I first organized the drawers, but now more than a year later, I haven’t used a one, and really mean to box it up and bring it to Goodwill. I figure that meaningful thought will go undone for another six months.
Yes, I will also admit to some ‘dones’ but not as many as there should be. Maybe it’s the ‘consistencies’ I have to start looking at. For weeks, maybe months, after we unboxed our robot vacuum, we were committed to doing it weekly. Well, someone has to clean out the bin, which is what is throwing the monkey wrench into the mix. I planned, even today, while Mr. Quantum did his exercises to do that, but here I am, answering comments. 🙂

Yep, can relate to all that. I bit the bullet with some of the ‘anothers’ that I unearthed in a fit of decluttering. Couldn’t recognise them, remember them, didn’t know what I had been thinking or planning, so out they went. It hurt, but I haven’t missed them so that’s a good thing. Need to do that again. Cupboards and drawers seem to have a habit of filling up magically I find. Perhaps there’s a magnet or a vortex that just sucks stuff in! Couldn’t possibly be me 🙂

I think the cupboards and drawers are tardis places. Bigger inside than they look. Somehow I just always manage to fit more things inside. I like that ‘fit of decluttering.’ They don’t have it for sale in the market, do they? 🙂
