A to Z Challenge – More Than Zero

Day 26

The Zone Letter: Z

Zerophilia

In the world of literature and movies there has been a huge uprising of morphing characters from the likes of vampires, warewoves, and other monsters, not to mention Terminators. All very interesting. But what if a person could shape shift – male to female, and back again – or vice versa? Regardless of anything else, it certainly would give us all a better way to understanding the opposite sex.

Zerophilia is such a movie; a 2005 romantic comedy film with speculative-fiction elements directed by Academy of Motion Pictures’ Student Academy Award-winning director Martin Curland and produced by Microangelo Entertainment. It is about a young man who discovers that he has a genetic condition which will cause a change of sex following each orgasm.

I came across this movie through Netflix. It is likely it came to my attention because of an actor, Kyle Schmid. I first saw him in a vampire movie, “Blood Ties.”

So when Calen wrote about the alternate universe idea, of what if we were able to write the story of us in an alternate universe, my thoughts turned to, what if I’d been born male?

Obviously it will take a far greater amount of time and space to get into that speculation, but I found the idea exceedingly appealing.

Did you see All of Me with Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin? They shared his body for a while. Very funny. Also another one, and of course I can’t remember the name or who was in it…oh Ellen Barkin maybe? So this ass of a guy dies and he gets the option to be back in body in order to learn how to treat women better and he comes back in Ellen Barkins body. I remember that as being funny too. But to change from female to male and back after every orgasm? Wow! I guess you’d learn to be a pretty great lover!

Congratulations for getting through the whole alphabet! Did you enjoy it?

Yes! I think I did! It was hilarious!
The Ellen Barkin one, I’m trying to remember. The first part of that reminds me of a movie, “Heaven Can Wait,” I think, but the person comes back in the body of a football player, I think.

LOL I love what you said about thinking that the person would learn to be a great lover!

I grouse about things while I’m doing it, but I did enjoy the challenge. I’ll probably do it again next year, but using a theme I’m very fond of: Music. πŸ˜€

Fimnora, congrats on finishing the amazing A2Z challenge! This is a new-to-me film, so I will look into finding it, as well as the other one Blood Ties. I”m eager to get movie referrals from friends. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you, Cathy. It was nice to be back into a challenge, but I’d forgotten how grueling it can be.

Zerophelia was quite interesting. Blood Ties was a series. I think it might have had at least two seasons.

I so many films and series on my favorites list. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to compare each others and find new treasures!
