Mundane Monday – Desert Scape

Happily, I’ve been able to get outside and take some pictures, as the yard is in full Spring makeup. Pho Trablogger gives us this opportunity every week to show off our world in its most Mundane Beauty.

This week I managed to find a veritable desert in the midst of the Greening.

Mundane Monday #54

Pho Trablogger  gives us the wonderful opportunity of looking for beauty in the mundane things we probably take for granted.

Today, I found an interesting mundane object to photograph, which turned out quite interesting:

Camera On The Run

I’m getting better at remembering to take my camera out with me. Tonight, I stuck it in my pocket for the garbage run (tomorrow morning is trash pick up)… And shining down beautifully upon us was the Full Moon. My first try was fuzzy:

Note the light above at 1 O’clock… is Jupiter.

The lights in among the trees, while they look like the Marfa lights, are actually the lights from our neighbor on the left, and across the street on the right.

So I tried again:

It’s not as clear as one shot of an Autumn moon from last year, but Q steadied me, and I waited until I got focus and snapped.

The last full moon of the winter season in March, is also known as the Lenten Moon, the Crow Moon to signify the crows that appear at the end of winter, and Sap Moon to mark the time for harvesting maple syrup from maple tree saps. It is also known as the Worm Moon because of the earthworms that come out at the end of winter and herald the coming of spring.*

I can definitely vouch for the Crows, but then again, they’re here all year round. I like the idea that it’s harvesting time for Maple Syrup. They have a harvesting place, if I’m not mistaken, at a park nearby. Will have to check that out this week. Worm moon, while I’d love to catch sight of some brother and sister worms, they’re not around at the moment. Of course, I’m quite aware that it is the Lenten Moon through our lovely Lady Calen who has been posting daily over at Impromptu Promptlings in a one word prompt challenge for this period of Lent.

Off to do a Full Moon Reading!

Mundane Monday #49 – A patina

This week’s Mundane Monday Photo, hosted by Pho Trablogger, as always, challenges us to find the beauty in everyday, normal, commonplace things. I dusted off my file cabinet, and pulled out this photo:

What I liked was the way a close up of one thing could resemble another.  Or is it just in the eye of the beholder?

Mundane Monday #48 – Grid Work

It’s Mundane Monday, on Tuesday, and Pho Trablogger is hosting his wonderful photo challenge: finding the beauty in the mundane.

I found the pattern of the grid work interesting, and how it changes size showing depth.
