FIM NOIR

To tell you about myself would be spoiling the surprise of my unfolding. I’m not just one thing or the other. I’m not even the same person I was yestserday. I’m not static, and unyielding. I’m at once, like a river flowing to meet it’s ocean, and at the same time, a ‘leaf driven by the wind,’ upon that river. Your own journey becomes part of mine as mine becomes part of yours.

However, since this is my ‘about’ page, the best way for me to convey to anyone is through words and music.

It’s my considered opinion that there is a song for everyone. I’m not talking about the one a person loves because it makes them melt as the very notes flow through them, or about burning it to the ground, or dancing the night away, which are singular events. The songΒ  of which I speak is one that when we hear it, we know it defines us, is about the very fabric of our being; about our journey in this lifetime.

Mine began with being “Lost and alone on some forgotten highway,” because that is how my early years must have been as I began to learn about the basics of life. It’s a road “Traveled by many, remembered by few.”

The details of my first words, first steps are selfless gifts to those who watched me learn how to walk, how to speak, but is lost in obscurity for me. As the years went by, I was just “Looking for something that I can believe in.” but more importantly, “Looking for something that I’d like to do, with my life.”

Finally, eons later, I can honestly say, “There’s nothing behind me, and nothing that ties me to something that might have been true yesterday.”Β  I have, in fact, spent my time dwelling in and toiling for this very time where I can believe, “Tomorrow is open. Right now it seems to be more than enough to just be here today.”

When I think back over the days of my life, spent believing I did know, the simple truth is, “And I don’t know what the future is holding in store. I don’t know where I’m going, I’m not sure where I’ve been.” This I can say with greater certainty: “There’s a spirit that guides me, a light that shines for me. My life is worth the living, I don’t need to see the end.”

What it all boils down to is, “Sweet, sweet surrender. Live, live without care, like the fish in the water, like a bird in the air…”

words and music by John Denver

You honor me, Sir. And I’m really happy that you like your bad-ass logo!!! Any time you need help, let me know. I don’t know photoshop, but you may be able to use an even older, more antiquated photo program, which comes free these days. I’ll let you know more about it if you’re game. Truth be told, I like doing the art thing… I’m actually in an art challenge over in another forum. So I’m always messing around with photo editing.

Thank you for giving us such a lovely image of the entirety of the now-you along with all the past-yous but I wonder why you didn’t give me the song (unless it was playing while I was reading and didn’t have my speakers on?) or a link to it… I love the way you write! More please!!!

I love this song! Thank you for reminding me of it. I haven’t thought of it for years but I played it over and over in the past and never got tired of it. I always felt it was one of the truest things he ever wrote.

You’re welcome, Alison! I have always felt that we all have a song which when we hear it, we know it defines us, on an inner level. This was my song. Of course, there probably have been other songs which defined me, at different times, and will be others, ahead, as the future becomes the present, something like that πŸ™‚

I just got through (one more post to go) 25 songs, 25 days, over the last month. I’m about to make my last post for it within a day or so. Still working on it. Music is the Medicine in my Soul! πŸ™‚

Greetings Ady! It brought a smile to my heart to read that I could remind someone of a wandering traveler, sort of a minstrel πŸ™‚ How true it is about music being not only a great companion, but such an inspiration. I’ve only had this blog since January, this year. It was happenstance I found my way here. But that is, I suppose, what happens when one is a happy wanderer. Within, you’ll find layers of my journey, many aspects of myself drifting in and out. Welcome to my world, and I’m always happy to chat about it all. And now I have a new door which has opened where I can explore as well!

FIM! How come I never read your about page before! Shame on me! I guess i was stuck on some blog in bali taking up all my blog reading time! but i have always said there is a song for every occasion, so i guess we are in agreeance again.
i reckon just about everything life can throw at us, there is a song for it.
trouble is these days i’m flat out thinking what the song is. they used to come effortlessly….yesterday, yesteryeah, yester…. something.
so i very much like your about page.
    my song would be:
“hey , sisters, can this really be the end
to be stuck inside of ( insert town/city of residence) with those ( insert province/state of residence) blues again”.
the original was mobile and memphis.

Take my word for it… reading about Bali, when it’s told by a Badfish is way more interesting than the life and times of a Fim Fay πŸ™‚ But thank you for coming by. Yes, most definitely, there is a song for every thing. I remember when I was just a wee one, that I thought life would be so much more enjoyable if we had music piped out into the streets. I got that for a few moments when I went to the 1964 World’s Fair. But I also realized there’s too many differences between people’s taste in music that it would be impossible to please everyone. SO, MP3s are the perfect musical companion.

I won’t say I never met a song I didn’t like, but I can say that every single song on my playlist, I love. I’m heard shouting out, “Oh I LOVE that song!” with every one that comes up. lol

Thank you so much. We finally found a way to get most of them but there is still no way to show them, but that is no big deal. The girls are having more fun than ever and more motivated. What else can you ask for?

There was a quote from Jurassic Park (or maybe Lost World – second book), “Life will find a way.” In this case, I paraphrase, “bloggers will find the way.” πŸ™‚ But as you say, some will fall off, but others will discover your blog, and that’s always cool.

You’re right, if the girls are having more fun than ever, and are more motivated, that’s the important thing, and a person doesn’t need to ask for more. They are very lucky to have at their fingertips all this great technology. It’s a great time to be where they are!

Loved your clever use of song lyrics, in the telling of your story, I wrote a poem recently, in similar style, but just using song Titles, you might like my words.
