Happy Accident

There is something so satisfying about rummaging through the booths at flea markets. And I found that same satisfaction, finding a treasure in the words of my neighbors here in blogging 101.

One nugget of immense pleasure came from another blogger’s post, with a ‘lead in’ that I believe was “You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me!” where a prompt was put up (was it one from here, or just their own personal prompt to share a fascinating possibility with others)?

The prompt was an “Image Search,” which suggested to “Pick a random word and do a Google image search on it. Check out the eleventh picture it brings up. Write about whatever that image brings to mind.”

My brain, which translates things in the weirdest ways, (or my memory really is seriously in need of a transplant), had me thinking I should pick a random word – easily done – and for reasons I can’t explain, to look at the 5th result. So I’m thinking, that part of me which has its nose fine tuned, and sniffs out the particular things it knows I love, knowing I will end up running around the house shouting, “what are the odds!?!” conveniently blocked out the coveted number eleven for the number five… *pauses thinking, and ends up doing the Meg Ryan immitation, where she sits in front of her computer, seeking to come up with a word, moves her hand left to right, and says* “blank.”*  Don’t you hate it when someone says, ‘you had to be there?’ which basically means here, you had to have seen the movie…

Okay, back to the point. My random word was rover. Maybe I was thinking of a dog. Who knows. So there I am at the results, and for a second time, I don’t follow the instructions. I go for the fifth web result. I assumed at this point I’d come up with a car, since the majority of the results seemed to be cars. I click on the fifth, and find myself on a website for a movie: The Rover. And it’s oddly (or not so oddly) a post apocalyptic movie I’d not heard of, which in itself is unusual. But my PA snoop of a nose, brought me right to it.  So then I go look at the instructions again, after summoning my hubby to show him something which, in my usual way, I’m making bigger than a mole hill. Yes, I had him try it, and to no avail, as it brought up nothing more significant than a big ZERO of no importance to him, and I saw the error of my ways. Well, that did not stop me from adding all manner of importance to the fact that my own miscalculations were right up there with Columbus discovering America.

Was my face red? no. I was, and am, still excited. I found me a new movie! I love those kinds of accidents – the serendipiosity of it all.

Did I mention that, going down to the 11th result STILL brought me to the movie? However, the images… not so much.

So, when next you’re following the prompts, try adding your own misinterpretation, or some made up other uncertainty and see if you get the same kind of rush.

P.S. I’d also like to say to the blogger who might come upon this and realize it was on his site, I’m sorry I couldn’t recall who it was, so just give me a hollar, and I’ll post a link/credit, etc to your blog.

P.P.S.  Happy Accidents, have happy endings! Thanks to Chouett, I’m now able to let debooworks know I’m thanking them not only for their inspiration, but for the most entertaining adventure which ensued.

I love this I search for prompts from other bloggers to seek inspiration. I live my life with the law of Serendipity, which happens to be one of my favorite movies, with my favorite actor John Cusak. Whom I will be featuring on my Facebook page all day to celebrate his nomination of best supporting actor for Canada’s Canadian Screen Awards for Map of the Stars. And you found my blog today after writing about my journey with PPD. How’s that for Serendipity?! 😃💖🌟
